In addition to electrical characteristics and current carrying capacity requirements, wind energy applications also include higher standards in terms of corrosion, vibration and static loads.

Elpress has worked with its customers to identify the following test standards that are considered relevant for wind energy applications:

• electrical performance - iec61238-1 standard class A.

• environmental requirements - DIN V 40046 Part 37.

• static load - the Swedish standard Sen 245010 is useful because it provides relatively high load limits.

• vibration test - en 50155 standard has been used when applicable.

Dual crimping process

Contact crimping is carried out in two steps: the first is hexagonal crimping to ensure the best symmetrical contact with the conductor, which indicates that there is no wire breakage or separation at the edge facing the connector. Then the convex die crimping can improve the electrical performance by 30%.
